Archer Defterios is a Greek-American artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. His work is an exploration of the relationships of color, light, and texture, as a means to offer new ways seeing. Using acrylics, oils, and fire as the three main materials in his work, he blends and removes dense bodies of paint from the surface of his compositions, embracing a practice driven by repletion and routine.
Self-taught in painting, he received a Bachelor Fine Arts in Design from the University of Southern California Roski School of Art & Design. After his studies, he located his studio practice in Los Angeles’ Arts District for one year, before moving his work to his independent studio in Hollywood’s Gallery District.
Defterios has cultivated a growing network of collectors, with works in private collections worldwide.
